Helium’s pivot to crypto provided the answer: “So, what we thought instead was, what if we could take advantage of cryptoeconomics, and make this much more of a crypto network—where we effectively give away the network?”
On the other hand, Match X is trying to play catch-up. Currently, the network has 3,400+ miners deployed. The smaller footprint means that there is a smaller following on Discord, and their forum seems to be less active. However, this may change as Match-X grows. The Discord is active, and questions are answered quickly by the devs. You can check to see where existing Match X miners are located here
Unfortunately, most of the platforms don’t have Helium coin added to their trading pairs yet.
Halving will cut the profitability of mining by 50% however it will most likely increase the value of the HNT coin.
If you want to get involved with the crazy world of network crypto, be aware that because of the global chip shortage and high demand, there is currently a back order of 150,000 hotspots. But if you’re like me and want to provide network coverage for a burgeoning IoT network — and maybe pick up a bit of cash as everyone dives into cryptocurrencies — I can think of worse ways to spend the roughly $400 it costs to buy a hotspot.

Definitely so, it’s never nice to see profits drop around 10x especially when you just finished setting up extra hotspots. But I do honestly believe in the project, when I got into HNT I got into it just for the project and I don’t mind if I never make my money back on the Hotspot or on my purchased HNT, I’m just here for the Journey and I’m not planning on turning off any of my Hotspots and neither am I planning on selling any of them even the ones that aren’t at there location yet.
Following on from my October update, I thought it was only fair to Helium that I post another to reflect the changes in my earnings.
The money comes from the income generated from the businesses that use the network.
Indeed, the market for cryptocurrencies has always struck me as less about tech and more about day trading. I’ve got nothing against it, but it’s not something I’m eager to latch onto, either. Or rather, I didn’t used to be. But with potentially $10,000 in found money from a LoRaWAN hotspot, I decided to open a Binance account and see if I could turn those HNTs into cold hard cash.
